Tamago Kake Gohan | Japanese Egg Rice

A change from having cereal in the morning, this dish needs only a few ingredients to come together: a single raw egg yolk, steamed rice, soy sauce, and nori. Or, furikake seasoning if you have it.


Separate the egg and add to steamed rice
One raw egg yolk over rice, use chopsticks to stir
Add soy sauce and stir some more
Add soy sauce and stir some more
The yolk and soy sauce give the rice a golden color

Top with crumbled nori
